But the beauty I am missing out on by not doing so, is making me think. The tiny droplets in the centre of that flower... just magical. This is such a beatiful account of your experience. I can absolutely place myself in that field with you. I grew up in rural North Dakota, one of the top sunflower producers in the US. July is when the miles and miles and acres and acres of these magnificent beings are in full bloom. They create their own universe of color and sound and fragrance, like one giant organism, each plant swaying in unison with the wind. Pure magic. You, sir, have captured the essence of "sunflower" in these images - such intimate views that make my heart swell. 🌻♥️

When I first stepped into the field, I saw the sunflowers in the usual way. But then I caught myself thinking - Wait a minute... what else is here? So I started looking more carefully. The longer I stayed, the more my eyes opened. I kept discovering new details, and before long it felt as though every sunflower had its own little world.
My first thought, as I read and scrolled through the photos, was that I was so happy for you to have this revelatory - is that a fair description? - moment. I have such a deep connection to sunflowers and this made me so emotional. My family name - Olienyk - is derived from my Ukrainian ancestors’ livelihood processing sunflower oil in the Mother Land generations ago. And then to emigrate to North Dakota to carry on… the circle is almost too much for my heart. Your simple post has been deeply affecting and I thank you. ❤️
